NATHU'S RASOI
NATHU'S RASOI
Nathu's is probably the best vegetarian restaurant at Pahalgam, Kashmir. It costs approximately ₹.700 for 2 people. The ambience of the restaurant is outstanding. Kashmir is a cold place, so, you'd like the restaurant to be warm inside which it is! The only thing people usually don't like is that you have to serve yourself, but in such a cold place one would want some movement. The staff is very polite and help you select your meal according to your taste buds. So, let's start with the food review...
CHOLE BHATURE
You go to Kashmir and you don't try Chole Bhature, impossible!!
Chole Bhature is a very famous dish of Northern India and some parts of Pakistan as well. It is a combination of masala chana or chickpeas and fried Indian bread called Bhature, which is made mostly of Maida or Soft Wheat flour. The spices and herbs in it give out an irresistible aroma.

The emancipation killed us, we couldn't wait to try it. The bhature were enormous oval shaped, crispy and perfectly fried. The Chole were perfectly cooked and its taste would spread as soon as it enters your mouth. It had the spiciness for the cold whether and was everything one would expect in his Chole. The chole bathure Didnt have ridiculous amount of butter/oil on them so it was in a way healthy too. It was served along with some Onions and Mango pickle.
SHAHI PANEER
Shahi Paneer is a preparation of Paneer in a thick gravy made up of cream, tomatoes and spices. Commonly found in the Northern India. It is mainly eaten with roti or kulcha or similar Indian breads. One, especially the vegetarians, is expected to have paneer in the north. However, this is one dish we would have again and again.
Shahi Paneer is usually less spicy gravy and best option for Jain people. The gravy was hot and pieces of paneer were soft and easy on the mouth. The paneer was fresh. Overall, 9/10.
It was accompanied with Naan, a type of Indian Bread. Naan was a bit undercooked and we had to add a little effort to eat it. The bar was dropped with the naan but a little compromise for the food so far.
Kheer
Kheer is basically the Indian version of Rice Pudding made by adding boiling rice, milk, sugar, broken wheat and seasoned with cardamom, raisins, saffron, almonds, etc. to enhance it's taste.
It was one of the best kheer we've tasted in my entire life. The rice was boiled with perfection and the aroma of the saffron reaching your nose as soon as it arrives at your table. The saffron also gave the kheer a strong taste of sweetness.
Cardamom and almonds glorified it's taste. The famous Kashmiri saffron lived upto its name. We can still smell the aroma of it hundred of miles away.
We recommend you to try this restaurant if you ever happen to visit Pahalgam, Kashmir. Pahalgam itself is a very beautiful and serene place to visit in Kashmir. Thank You for reading. We'll be back next month!
